Second Chance To Celebrate Frankie’s 100th In His Hometown!
Zort Music and Prohibition Productions are proud to present FRANKIE’S CENTENNIAL SAVOY BALL at the elegant 1930-era Edison Ballroom (formerly the “Supper Club”) on West 47th Street: Friday May 23, 2014, 8:00 PM to 2:30 AM – with the George Gee’s 17-piece Swing Orchestra, performing authentic swinging music of the Savoy-style, and other bands.
Come to the BIG APPLE May 23-25, 2014, and join in the Centennial Birthday Celebration of Frankie Manning, Lindy Hop Swing Legend. New York City swing dance producers have added the Frankie Trifecta, three new premium events, separate from the Frankie 100 Festival. Over 2000 Frankie 100 packages were sold-out in just minutes to dancers from around the world, but many in New York City and elsewhere were not able to obtain tickets.
Frankie’s Centennial Savoy Ball, on Friday night, is the first of the new Frankie Trifecta events. The other events are on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets GO ON SALE on February 24th.
The Edison Ballroom has all the feel and spirit of a1930’s Ballroom – which indeed is what it is. In 1998, Frankie blessed this dance floor when he danced and performed in the Public Broadcasting Service’s “Swingin’ With the Duke”. FOR ONE GLAMOROUS EVENING, RETURN TO THE SUPPER CLUB. For over ten years, the Edison Ballroom was known as the “Supper Club” and was a venue of choice in the 1990s swing era revival in New York City,
running every Friday and Saturday until 4 AM. The Savoy Ball is a one-time opportunity to return to the Supper Club, this time with Savoy swing music and at a classy black tie/vintage occasion. The entire dance floor will be open for dancing. Upstairs the remodeled Lounge will have a second dance floor with small-group live music, and a third dance floor in the balcony overlooking the main ballroom floor.
- Rare video.
- All live music.
- Sumptuous Buffet Dinner.
- Open Top Shelf Bar – (and bottled water).
- Black Tie or Vintage Attire Required.
